History and Background
On December 17, 1925, exactly 22 years after the historic flight of the Wright Flyer, barnstormer John Paul Riddle and entrepreneur T. Higbee Embry founded the Embry-Riddle Company at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati, Ohio. The following spring the company opened the Embry-Riddle School of Aviation.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University began with a simple plan to train airplane pilots. Today, Embry-Riddle leads the world in aviation and aerospace higher education.
Embry-Riddle is an independent, nonsectarian, not-for-profit, coeducational university. The University serves culturally diverse students seeking careers in aviation, aerospace, engineering, and related fields. Residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., provide education in a traditional setting, while the Worldwide Campus provides instruction through more than 130 centers in the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Middle East and through online learning.
Accrediting Bodies and Affiliations
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, Telephone: 404-679-4501) to award degrees at the associate, bachelor, and master levels.
At the Daytona Beach Campus: The bachelor degree programs in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Software Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21102-4012; Telephone: 410-347-7700). The bachelor degree programs in Aeronautical Science, Aerospace Electronics, Air Traffic Management, Applied Meteorology, Safety Science, and the Business Administration programs are accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board, International (AABI). The bachelor degree programs in Business Administration and the Master of Business Administration program are accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The Aviation Maintenance Science degree is accredited by AABI for two Areas of Concentration: Aerospace Electronics and Maintenance Management. The certificate programs in Maintenance Technology (airframe and power plant) are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
At the Prescott Campus: The bachelor degree programs in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering are accredited by ABET. The bachelor degree programs in Aeronautical Science and Aviation Business Administration are accredited by AABI.
At Both Residential Campuses:Certificate programs in Flight (private, commercial, instrument, multi-engine, flight instructor, and instrument flight instructor ratings) and Flight Dispatch are approved by the FAA.

Placement Statistics
Opportunities for work experience through co-ops and internships abound, with 369 students awarded positions during the 2006-2007 academic year. Within one year of graduation from the residential campuses, 96% of Embry-Riddle graduates overall are either employed or have decided to continue their education. Embry-Riddle has alumni worldwide who are employed in the aviation and aerospace industry.

Embry-Riddle Worldwide
The Worldwide Campus is a network of more than 130 campus centers in the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Middle East, with a virtual presence via online learning covering every continent on the globe. The Worldwide Campus headquarters is located in Daytona Beach.
Special Features
New at the Daytona Beach Campus: College of Business academic hall and the Apollo Hall residence hall. Other newer buildings are the College of Aviation academic hall, the Lehman Engineering & Technology Center, and the Advanced Flight Simulation Center.
New at the Prescott Campus: Udvar-Hazy Library & Learning Center, the Academic Complex, the Aerospace Experimentation & Fabrication Building, and the Visitors Center. Also of note: the King Engineering & Technology Center, the Robertson Flight Simulation Center, and the Robertson Aviation Safety Center.
